About Galápagos Wildlife Project

An environmental nonprofit foundation legally recognized by the Government of Ecuador, dedicated to protecting biodiversity and endangered species in the Galápagos Islands.

About Galápagos Wildlife Project (GWP)

The Galápagos Wildlife Project (GWP) is an environmental nonprofit foundation legally recognized by the Government of Ecuador through Resolution MAE-COGEJ-2025-0006-RM, issued on 18 November 2025 by the Ministry of Environment and Energy.

GWP was created to support the long-term protection of biodiversity, endangered species, and natural ecosystems in the Galápagos Islands—one of the most fragile and valuable ecological regions in the world.

Our Purpose

GWP exists to advance effective conservation in the Galápagos Islands by safeguarding vulnerable ecosystems, protecting endemic species, and supporting community-based stewardship of natural habitats.

Our purpose is grounded in Ecuador’s environmental legal framework, and we operate under strict transparency, accountability, and responsibility as established by national regulations for nonprofit organizations.

Our Mission

To conserve and restore the natural ecosystems of the Galápagos Islands by protecting endemic and threatened species, recovering degraded habitats, managing environmental threats, and strengthening local capacities for sustainable and resilient conservation.

We work in close coordination with environmental authorities, scientific institutions, landowners, and community partners to ensure ecological integrity and long-term biodiversity protection.

Our Vision

A Galápagos archipelago where endemic wildlife thrives in healthy, connected, and climate-resilient ecosystems, safeguarded through science-based conservation, community participation, and long-term stewardship.
